Biography

Dr McDermid completed medical school at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and then did his Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care training at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. He then completed a formal one-year fellowship in echocardiography at the University of British Columbia and holds testamur status with the American Society of Echocardiography.

Dr McDermid is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Division of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Alberta and has a full time critical care practice. He is Associate Director of the E. Garner King Intensive Care Unit and Critical Care Director the Firefighters' Burn Treatment Unit. With a strong interest in medical education, he is also the Associate Program Director and the lead for Curriculum Development for the Division of Crit
