Biography

Dr. Denault completed his medical school at the University of Montreal and then did his Internal Medicine at McGill University including additional training in echocardiography, at University of Montreal. He then went to complete a 2-year fellowship in multidisciplinary Critical Care at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. This was followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Montreal. In 2009, he completed a PhD in Biomedical Science at the University of Montreal. The topic was hemodynamic instability in cardiac surgery.

Dr. Denault is currently professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at University of Montreal and is practicing as a cardiac anesthesiologist at the Montreal Heart Institute and intensivist in both the Montreal Heart Institute and the Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His research deals with the application of echocardiography in the cardiac operating room and the intensive care unit. Dr. Denault has published several articles, book chapters and textbooks on the use of transesophageal echocardiography. This textbook is based on the National Board of Perioperative Echocardiography Examination objectives.
