  • Experience a unique, highly clinical  program composed of mostly hands-on sessions as the didactic portion will be covered online before the course through interactive e-learning modules.
  • Practice scanning of various acute cardiac, abdominal and pleural pathologies on high-fidelity ultrasound simulators.
  • Develop an approach using TTE in the presence of hypoxia or hemodynamic instability.

[+] Perspective

The use of ultrasound in the ICU is becoming essential as a tool  to take better care of our critically ill patients.

 

The goal of focused critical care ultrasound is to perform a study to answer a specific clinical question in a specific clinical setting. Results of the ultrasound study must be correctly interpreted and correctly integrated in the specific clinical context, so that the adequate change in diagnosis or management can be performed and potentially have significant impact on patient care.

 

The  Bedside Ultrasound in the ICU seminars will provide the participants with important clinical knowledge about ICUultrasonography with mostly practical,  "hands-on" experience under the clinical supervision of acute care physicians and sonographers. The practical, "hands-on" portion of the course will be performed using high-quality ultrasound machines and echocardiography simulators with an excellent ratio of device to participants of 1:4.

  1. Critical Care Ultrasound e-learning modules to be completed pre-course
  • 15.5 hours of multimedia didactic content to be covered (mandatory) at your own pace many weeks before coming to the course.  This longitudinal aspect of the learning will allow the participant to optimize understanding of the cardiac and vascular anatomy and integration of the key clinical concepts.
  • Access to the e-Learning curricula is added to your ICCU profile upon registration, you can begin learning immediately.
  • The approach is modular to make learning user friendly and convenient.
  • Knowledge is assessed through more than 800 multimedia questions as pre-tests and post-tests
  • Provides RCPSC MainPro or AMA PRA credits, see "Academic Goals and CME Information" section for complete details
  • Your access to the Critical Care Ultrasound e-learning curricula package will be for a period of two years so that you can review the material after the course, redo the tests and view the detailed answers.

 

  1.  Practice on revolutionary ultrasound simulators
  • Hands-on scanning will be performed both on live models and on high-fidelity ultrasound simulators allowing practice scanning of acute cardiac pathologies like tamponade, RV dysfunction, valve prosthesis and many others.
  • Lung and abdominal pathologies as well as vascular exam/access will be included in the General Ultrasound sessions.
  • Over 40 shock and hypoxemia clinical cases will be assessed on the ultrasound simulators.
  • The augmented reality feature of the simulator allows for a clear understanding of the different planes of cut.

 

  1. Experience a highly clinical  program composed of mostly hands-on sessions as the didactic part will be covered online before the course.

 

  1. Course accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and will provide RCPSC MainPro CPD or AMA PRA CME credits to the participants.  See "Academic Goals and CME Information" section for complete details

Live seminar:  2 hours for Section 1 CPD credits and 7.5 hours for Section 3: Assessment (Accredited Simulation Activities) CPD credits (credits calculated automatically)

E-learning modules:  23 hours for Section 3: Assessment (Accredited Simulation Activities) CPD credits (credits calculated automatically)

 

For AMA members the Division of CPD approves:

Live seminar:  9.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ hours

E-learning modules:  23 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™

 

For the RCPSC General Practicioner the Division of CPD approves:

Live seminar:  9.5 hours of Category 1 CPD credits

E-learning modules:  23 hours of Category 1 CPD credits

 

For all other participants, this program grants a certificate of attendance of 9.5 hours for the live seminar and 23 hours for the e-learning modules.

Cancellation policy:

 

If cancellation notice is provided 30 days prior to the seminar date, a full refund will be issued for costs related to the seminar portion of this course; this does not apply to the e-Learning curriculum which is not refundable.  A partial refund (50% of the costs related to the seminar portion) will be provided if cancellation notice is provided no less than 14 days prior to the event date providing a replacement attendee can be found.  All efforts will be made to find a replacement by the organizers.  Because of the high demand and practical portion of this course, there will be no refunds issued for cancellations within 14 days of the seminar date.

 

We will refund the amount charged, in the currency that you were charged.  If this is not your native currency, your bank may charge exchange fees, or a change in the exchange rate may have resulted in a difference in the amount refunded as compared with the amount you originally paid in your native currency. You have sole responsibility for any fees paid or losses incurred in this manner.
